Successful Completion of Beekeeping Training for Farmers in Ntcheu District: A Step Towards Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Conservation

Find Your Feet (FYF) has recently concluded a comprehensive training program aimed at equipping farmers in Ntcheu District with essential skills in profitable and sustainable beekeeping. The training, which targeted 400 farmers from the Mpira Catchment area, ultimately reached 502 participants, significantly exceeding expectations. This achievement highlights the strong community interest and the inclusive approach of the project, with 55.4% of the participants being youth and 2.4% being persons with disabilities.

Over a span of two weeks, FYF project staff, in collaboration with Ntcheu District Council, facilitated three-day sessions focused on beekeeping, colonization, and colony management. These sessions were specifically designed to address identified capacity gaps, thereby enhancing honey productivity and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

The training was conducted under the auspices of the Forest and Land Restoration Project in Ntcheu, funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This initiative not only empowers farmers to engage in agriculture commercialization but also contributes to environmental conservation efforts in the region.
